Blackheads and whiteheads are common problems of adolescents and people who have oily skin, regardless of age.
What causes blackheads and whiteheads?
The skin has a self-hydration system which secretes oil called sebum. When in excess and stopped by dead skin cells, dust, makeup, etc., these points are formed, called comedones. Finally, the points become infected and turn into blackheads.
What is the difference between a black and a white point?
Blackheads form when the follicle becomes larger than its normal size and sebum and dead cells make contact with the air and darken due to oxidation of melanin.
Whiteheads are formed when a mixture is covered by skin pore and no contact with air. That clogged pore, becomes white.
